Did you see what the top 10 most used terms on search engines were in 2008?

1 Britney Spears
2 WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment)
3 Barak Obama
4 Miley Cyrus
5 RuneScape
6 Jessica Alba
7 Naruto
8 Lindsay Lohan
9 Angelina Jolie
10 American Idol

I’m just trying to picture what a day in the life of this normal person most be like:

I suppose you’d wake up and kiss the many posters of Britney, Jessica and Angelina around the room, then on your way to breakfast you’d put your dog in a headlock, re-enacting last nights WWE episode. You might put the radio on and hear about a car crash and wonder if they’ve let Lindsey loose again – before listening to a cheesey one hit wonder from the latest American Idol winner. Then you plonk down in front of the TV and catch the latest episode of Naruto before logging on to your computer, assuming the identity of an angry ork called “Grawl Fire-Beard” playing some Runescape and wondering if Obama will really buy a poodle as the White House pet. Intense stuff all before 10 o’clock.

Anyway in our world of Fantasy Football, it’s Ian, Mark and Stacey who are 1, 2 and 3 with “Far From Athletic” the biggest position risers, up 17. The battle between Jon and Dan has closed to just 11 places and 25 points, whilst a total of 329 transfers have now been used. The seasons top scoring players in each position are Cech (118), Vidic (141), Lampard (184) and Anelka (139) which will make Mr Ryall contemplate the minus 2 points he got this week and why he didn’t choose them.

This months Fun Compeition 1:

Pair the celebrity with the movie:

>> Britney, Miley, Jessica, Lindsey, Angelina
>> Mean Girls, Kung Fu Panda, Hannah Montana, Crossroads, Never Been Kissed

Fun Competition 2:

Which of the following is NOT a real “class” in World of Warcraft?

>> Shaman, Rogue, Warrior, Archer, Hunters, Priests

That’s it. Have a great weekend.

Happy New Year everyone.

I realised three important things over the holidays:

1) There is no limit to the amount of turkey you can eat – you just need to understand the importance of comfortable clothing and how to push through the meat sweats
2) Santa does exist but he works for Amazon and is an Express Delivery legend
3) Depsite doing nothing more energetic than lifting a pint glass for two weeks – you just never feel refreshed when you come back to work in January

Anyway on to the more serious matter of the December update – which with 6 players now having broken through the 1000 points mark is a bit of a humdinger let me tell you. As mentioned before, December ran up until the 4th Jan and includes both League and Cup games. It is perhaps best summed up though this months prizes…

:: Most Points Prize goes to Andrew Ford with 290 points. He was closely followed by Stu Farr (283) and Jo Garcia (275).
:: Most Positions Prize was shared by Alun Prytherch and Stu Farr, up 42 places each. Again Jo came in next on 37 places.
:: Fun Comp 1 Winner was Neil Quirk who had the closest guess with 200.2 pounds. Yes – I’m carrying a little holiday weight.
:: Fun Comp 2 Winner was Lee Kokbun who was chosen from all the correct riddle answers. Only Wizbit is better.
:: Pot Lucker League 1 was Stacey Brean
:: Pot Lucker League 2 was Stefan Griffiths
:: Pot Lucker League 3 was Chris Lloyd
:: Biggest Faller prize was shared by Dave Heylings and Chris Rawlings, both down 40 places each this month

Transfers will go in before the next update – although there were surprisingly few – I guess everyone’s waiting to see how the “real life” transfer window pans out.

The next update will also include two new fun competitions.

Smooth.

Morning all,

27 days to Christmas!!! Don’t panic!!! Breath deeply and remember that Christmas is fun – it’s about eating so much turkey your sides hurt or watching The Princess Bride for the 100th time on Boxing Day or simply about kicking back, putting on some Dean Martin carols and chilling before it all starts again in 2009…

With that in mind, there are a few teams out there who could use the Festive period to take stock…

Sunderland fell to their 3rd consecutive loss against West Ham, whilst Blackburn saw Spurs make it no win in 8 games, Arsenal continue to see their title challenge turn to dust as Man City gave them a 3 nil whooping, whilst Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool were all held to nil all draws with whilst West Brom have now taken just 1 point from the last 21 after a loss to Stoke.

In our League, “It’ll All End In Tears, Again” has stolen the top spot, whilst Stacey and Anna continue the ladies assault on the top 10 – both up 2 places. The “One Lungs Chicken Legged Klaimers” continue their fall, whilst Rhodri, Keivan and Emily all see good rises in the top 20 but with “O’Sheas Sharpshooters” clocking the biggest rise up 25 places.

If case you were wondering – and why wouldn’t you – about the origin of the word Christmas – it originated as a compound meaning “Christ’s mass”. More interestingly, in early Greek versions of the New Testament, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ – so since the mid-16th century Χ has been used as an abbreviation for Christ. Hence, Xmas is often used as an abbreviation for Christmas.

Today’s lesson was brought to you by the number 27 and the letter X…

Have a great weekend people.

If there’s one thing I learn this weekend – it’s don’t eat a kilo of fajitas – but the second thing I learnt as I watched the crowds roll up for the Wales vs South Africa game is that the credit crunch must really be hitting. Back in the “good times” you’d be woken at 6am by hordes of kids with those crazy loud air hooters or by over-excited parents waving giant flags and shouting “Who are ya?!!!” but not this time. The vendors were taking very slim pickings on even the cheap horns which you have to blow through yourself. So here’s something to remember in these tough times:

you don’t have to be rich to be cool (http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/3699/coolmodivatepg0.jpg)

In the football you got a real sense the league table was beginning to shake itself out, with Hull continuing their losing streak and Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all breaking clear at the top. It was a weekend for doubles with Sanli, Anelka, Bent, Nasri, Saha and Keane all bagging 2 goals each. This means that in our table, Scally and Ian C climb into 2nd and 3rd, closely followed by Lyons and with Stacey breaking into 9th place. Iwan and Kokbun are also putting pressure on the top 10.

More games mid week so let’s just leave it at that shall we?

Indeed.

Good afternoon all,

Well another month draws to a close in spooky Halloween fashion with a screamer of an 8 goal feast last night between Tottenham and Arsenal. From watching the Spurs fans dancing in the stands you would have been forgiven for thinking they had all just simulatenously found winning lottery tickets – either that or decided now was the most opportune time to test their massive new boy-band dance routine. Who can say – either way you wouldn’t have thought they were celebrating letting in 4 more goals – but such is the beauty of football. Come on ‘arry…

This month see’s a massive win for Cheggers who takes not only the highest points prize but also the highest position climber too. Up 271 points and 72 places – it’s well deserved – although there was close contention from Rhodri E (268 points), Nick S (265 points), Stacey B (69 places), Connor C (69 places) and Kevin A (65 places). Well done to all.

In the lucky dip section, this months jammy so-and-so’s are: “I spent far too much time on this”, “I aint afraid of no Ghosty” and “The B Team”. Congratulations on the fluke.

Meanwhile, this months biggest faller prize goes to “Morsey’s Marvels” who fell 72 places – but who, it should be said, is still sitting in a very respectable 86th position.

There is still one more day to go on the 2 Fun Competitions – so get over to here and here to add your entries. You’ve got to be in it to win it. Next months competitions will be a little different and will be announced imminently.

There is also just one more day to get any transfers in.

Hope everyone’s got something interesting planned for Halloween.

Michael Jackson’s already got his mask ready…

Afternoon all,

A good weekend of sport with Hamilton winning the Chinese Grand Prize, Murrary taking his second Masters title and Tottenham continuing to show the kind of form you would normally need a pooper-scooper for. I’m sure any of us could be paid millions of pounds to lose 8 games on the trot but they did it with style on Sunday and had two players sent off and another knocked unconcious – leaving the pitch with an oxygen mask. Not only that – the injury was suffered during a collision with his own goalie. I just made £500 on that – thank you You’ve Been Framed.

Anyway it was an entertaining event elsewhere with Aresenal netting 3, Liverpool 3, Man U 4 and Chelsea 5 with goals from the likes of Kalou, Lampard, Rooney, Ronaldo, Berbatov, Kuyt, Van Persie and Walcott.

In our League – Sibley, Bickel and Edgerley all step up into the top 10 – with Alex, Stacey, Ricky, Rawlings and Dean all clocking up some 25+ position climbs whilst Lloydy did indeed “Dance with the devil in the pale moonlight” and came off worse – down 20 places.

In fairness though, football isn’t for everyone – so perhaps you should try watching or take part in one of the UK’s 10 weirdest sports – including wife carrying, cheese rolling and chess boxing. To learn more, please check out: http://www.weirdlevel.com/2008/10/10-weirdest-sports.html – I think you’ll agree there’s something for all tastes. Mine’s edam.

Game on.

——————————————-

Remember: the two fun competitions are underway for the month so go online and leave your suggestions. You’ve got to be in it to win it. No limit on entries. It’s all for fun.

* As always, in the first month, there is no Biggest Points climber as this is the same as Highest Position Climber.

Not to be outdone by his brother taking the prestigious title of Welsh Air Guitar Champion (see ITV for all the glory), Andrew has stormed to the top as our first month champion, with Baker and Roly picking up some dosh as this months funny fools, Carys, Tom and Neil all proving they are jammy so-and-so’s and James picking up a consoloation prize having finished this first month at the bottom.

The ladies saw a strong end to the month with both MG and Anna in the top 10, Rebecca up 47, Stacey up 49, Emily up 30, Carys up 29, Sian up 43 and it goes on…

Another update coming on Monday which will include all the games since the beginning of the month as well as a large number of transfers that were received in time and if that wasn’t enough, expect two more fun contests…

Exciting times.

Have a good weekend.
